eShakti - special promotion

Have you tried to go clothes shopping lately and just couldn't find anything that really made an impression.  Maybe you need a dress for a special event and no matter how hard you try, you just can't seem to find the perfect one.

Or if you are like me, you can't find anything modest any more. Everything is too short or shows too much cleavage. I also fall into that category of being on the heavy side - I wear size 16 - I am not ashamed - but it is difficult to find something flattering for my size.

Well, let me introduce you to eShakti. eShakti will customize your dress (they also have shirts and skirts) for your shape and size. You can also choose the style, length and color.

Say you are getting married and need to pick out bridesmaid dresses. Well, they will customize your dresses for you. Here is an example:

This is the same dress, in different colors and styles. Say you have someone that doesn't feel comfortable wearing a sleeveless dress, then you could have a dress made that has sleeves. Or someone that is short and needs a shorter dress, or a tall person and you need a longer dress - well, you get the idea.

Right now, eShakti is offering a promotion to North Carolina Momma readers...if you order between now and March 10th, you can get 20% off your order. Just enter NRTHCRLNMM into the promotional code box.

Note: (*conditions apply)
Code has to be entered in the 'Promotional Code' box. No Minimum Order Value. The discount code is not case sensitive. The code can be used any number of times until the validity period. This code can be clubbed with any other gift coupon or gift card in the same order. This discount code is not applicable on our Overstock category. Not applicable on previous purchases.

Check out the selection at eShakti and take advantage of this promotion. Of course, if you make a purchase please come back and let me know. I would love to see a picture once you get it and get your thoughts.

Power in the Tongue

You know it really bothers me when people talk so negative. Especially Christians! If you are a child of God then you have something to be happy about. And it is not about being happy but having joy. we are not promised that everything will be good, and we will not always be happy, but we can make a choice each and every day to have joy. Something I learned in church was that joy stood for
(J)Jesus (O) Others (Y) Yourself. If we keep Jesus first, love our neighbors (others) as ourselves, and then put ourselves next, we can find joy.

But even when you are having a bad day, be careful of the things you say. There is power in the tongue. Here are a few Bible verses that I found on the same subject. Read and see what the word of God says about the tongue:

Proverbs 18:21 - Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Matthew 15:18 - But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

Proverbs 12:18 - There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise [is] health.

Ephesians 4:29 - Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

Matthew 12:36 - But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

Proverbs 16:24 - Pleasant words [are as] an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

Colossians 3:8 - But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

Proverbs 13:3 - He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: [but] he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.

Matthew 12:37 - For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

James 1:26 - If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion [is] vain.

Proverbs 15:1 - A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

Proverbs 21:23 - Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.

Psalms 19:14 - Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

Proverbs 29:20 - Seest thou a man [that is] hasty in his words? [there is] more hope of a fool than of him.

James 3:1-12 - My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.

Proverbs 15:4 - A wholesome tongue [is] a tree of life: but perverseness therein [is] a breach in the spirit.

Proverbs 17:28 - Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: [and] he that shutteth his lips [is esteemed] a man of understanding.

Proverbs 15:2 - The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.

Proverbs 25:11 - A word fitly spoken [is like] apples of gold in pictures of silver.

Romans 12:14 - Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.

Proverbs 17:27 - He that hath knowledge spareth his words: [and] a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.

Luke 6:45 - A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

John 1:1 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Proverbs 17:9 - He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth [very] friends.

Proverbs 10:19 - In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips [is] wise.

Proverbs 27:2 - Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.

Proverbs 16:23-24 - The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.

John 8:31-32 - Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, [then] are ye my disciples indeed;

Proverbs 18:13 - He that answereth a matter before he heareth [it], it [is] folly and shame unto him.

John 8:31 - Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, [then] are ye my disciples indeed;

Matthew 12:34 - O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

Matthew 7:12 - Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Isaiah 44:1-28 - Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen:

Proverbs 11:12 - He that is void of wisdom despiseth his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.

Romans 10:8 - But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, [even] in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

Isaiah 54:17 - No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue [that] shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This [is] the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness [is] of me, saith the LORD.

Hebrews 11:1-40 - Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Colossians 4:6 - Let your speech [be] alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

Ephesians 6:17 - And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Proverbs 18:20 - A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; [and] with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.

Psalms 118:17 - I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.

John 1:14 - And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Proverbs 14:1 - Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.

Leviticus 5:4 - Or if a soul swear, pronouncing with [his] lips to do evil, or to do good, whatsoever [it be] that a man shall pronounce with an oath, and it be hid from him; when he knoweth [of it], then he shall be guilty in one of these.

James 3:6 - And the tongue [is] a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

Acts 4:31 - And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

Acts 4:2 - Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

John 8:47 - He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear [them] not, because ye are not of God.

John 3:34 - For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure [unto him].

Luke 11:28 - But he said, Yea rather, blessed [are] they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

Luke 8:21 - And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.

Matthew 4:4 - But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Ezekiel 13:8 - Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye have spoken vanity, and seen lies, therefore, behold, I [am] against you, saith the Lord GOD.

Jeremiah 5:13 - And the prophets shall become wind, and the word [is] not in them: thus shall it be done unto them.

Proverbs 15:23 - A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word [spoken] in due season, how good [is it]!

Psalms 119:89-93 - LAMED. For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.

Deuteronomy 8:1-20 - All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers.

Leviticus 19:16-17 - Thou shalt not go up and down [as] a talebearer among thy people: neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbour: I [am] the LORD.

Exodus 20:16 - Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

1 John 1:8 - If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

1 Peter 1:23 - Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

Read over this list and find you a few verses to keep in mind the next time the devil tries to get you down.  One of my favorites is: Proverbs 16:24 - Pleasant words [are as] an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. & Ephesians 4:29 - Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. Let's don't speak corrupt words to or about each other, but lets lift one another up.

Extra Entry into Abel's Field Giveaway

My blog is not very popular by no means, and the fact that I work a full time job plus take care of 2 kids and a husband at home it is no wonder I don't have much time to work with it to make it more popular. Right now I am running a giveaway for a DVD "Abel's Field". It is a very good movie and I highly recommend it to everyone. To offer an extra entry into the giveaway I would love for you to leave me a comment - on this post - telling me what are some things that you like to read about on other blogs. Some ideas that maybe can give me some inspiration.

I will also give you an extra entry if you are, or become, an email subscriber. Just leave a second comment on this post with your email address.

Abel's Field DVD Review/Giveaway

I recently had the pleasure of receiving a DVD, Abel's Field, for the purpose of doing a review and hosting a giveaway. Let me start by saying that I truly LOVE watching a movie that I can watch with my whole family that I don't have to worry about the language or other obscenities. This is one of those family-friendly movies. I would take this movie to church for our monthly movie night but there are 2 places in the movie where they are in a bar drinking and for that we would not watch it at church.

About Abel's Field
Left motherless by tragedy and abandoned by his father, high school senior Seth McArdle (Samuel Davis) faces enormous pressure as he strives to support his little sisters. At school, he endures the daily bullying of the football team. But fighting back only finds him singled out for punishment and assigned to an after-school work detail under the supervision of the reserved groundskeeper, Abel (SOUL SURFER’S Kevin Sorbo). Much to his surprise, Seth discovers that Abel may be the only one who truly understands his struggles. As dark times lure Seth toward desperate measures, the reluctant Abel may be the one person who can point him back toward the light.

My Thoughts
As I watched this movie with my husband and kids I kept thinking about how teens these days are constantly complaining about how bad they have it. Teens these days have Iphones, Ipads, Ipods and all other types of computers and game systems. They drive nice cars when they get their license and they tend to be really spoiled. Yet they always seem to complain when they don't get their way or don't get something that they want.

The young man in this movie is only 17, he is raising his 7-yr old twin sisters, going to high school and having to work. He has a half-brother that will not help him in any way and this guy is really struggling. But in all that he has going on, he does not complain. He, of course, is not really happy about the situation but he does what he has to do to raise his sisters and make life for them as normal as possible. He makes a lot of sacrifices that most teens would not do for their family.

I totally recommend this movie to everyone! It is a great movie about sacrifice, family, friendships and finding faith in the least likely places.

Wow it has been a while....

I have been so busy and knew that I had not blogged in a while but I really did not realize it had been so long. I really wish I was better at prioritizing and making time to do all the things that I want to do but, in all honesty, I go to work and work all day and then when I get home I cook dinner and then all I want to do is lay on the couch and watch t.v. with the family. I did sign up this year, along with 108,000+ other people, to read the Bible all the way through in 2013. I am really excited too because I always say that I want to read the Bible through and, just like with everything else in my life, I get distracted and don't get it done. This year is different though because I signed a pledge. To some that does not mean a whole lot but to me the  pledge that I signed means everything. My pastor has always stressed the fact that it is better to never make a pledge than to make one and not keep it. I feel like I made a pledge to God, therefore, I feel more pressure, you could say, to do what I have said I would do. I had to get myself in a routine that I knew I could keep - I get up in the morning and get me a cup of coffee and sit down and read. No one else in the house is up yet, except my daughter and she is good about doing her own thing, so I have that little bit of time to myself.

I am going to try to get myself in more of a habit where I can blog a little more as well. My sister over at Southern Mom of 4 keeps telling me all about these great opportunities I am missing, but I just do not seem to find the time. I do have a great DVD review/giveaway coming up soon so hopefully that will get me back in the groove. Anyway, I hope to not be away so long....
